We are excited to announce that the Franklin County Career and Technical Center (FCCTC) will be offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program for the upcoming 2026–27 school year. FCCTC received more than $79,000 through the Kentucky Rural Health Transformation Grant to start the program with modern training technology and patient simulation tools, giving high school students a direct pathway into emergency medical services and healthcare careers.

Following the National EMS Education Standards and Kentucky Board of EMS requirements, the curriculum offers a comprehensive blend of classroom instruction, hands-on skills laboratories, patient simulation, clinical experiences, and ambulance field internships. Students will develop knowledge and skills in patient assessment, airway management, trauma care, medical and cardiac emergencies, EMS operations, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking.

“This program is about much more than earning a certification; it’s about creating opportunities for students while strengthening the future EMS workforce in our region,” said Captain Kenneth Barnett, Program Instructor. “Thanks to the Kentucky Rural Health Transformation Grant, our students will train with modern equipment and gain real-world experience that prepares them to serve their communities with confidence. We’re excited to bring this program to Franklin County and help develop the next generation of emergency medical professionals.”

Students who complete the course will earn their CPR/BLS certification and finish a Kentucky-approved EMT education program. Upon meeting all requirements, graduates will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT (NREMT) examination, the official certification needed to become a licensed EMT.

Franklin County’s Career and Technical School Announces EMT Program for 2026–27 School Year
Today, FCS is excited to shine a spotlight on 2025 Western Hills High School and Franklin County Career and Technical Center graduate Aidan Creech.

Aidan is a recent graduate of WyoTech, a premier automotive trade school in Wyoming. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Specialized Technology in June 2026. During his time there, Aidan completed training in Automotive Technology, along with two high-level speciality programs: Street Rod and Custom Fabrication and Automotive Service Management.

While at WyoTech, he accepted a job offer with Velocity Restorations in Florida, a company known for transforming classic cars into modern masterpieces. Aidan will be joining their assembly crew.

“I personally think going to the Automotive Technology department at CTC was the best decision I ever made,” said Aidan Creech. “I never imagined all of this would be possible. My time at CTC and WyoTech has really shown me how far I can go if I put my mind to it, and so far, it’s really paying off.”

Aidan attended Collins Lane Elementary School and Bondurant Middle School before he attended WHHS and CTC. During his time with FCS, he competed in SkillsUSA for two years and earned all ten entry-level Automotive Service Technology (AST) certifications.

“I am so proud of Aidan for all his hard work and accomplishments. He really made my job as an instructor easy because of his strong work ethic and deep desire to learn and master the trade,” said Ryan Shouse, Auto Mechanics Instructor. “I am truly excited to see all the fantastic things he will accomplish in his career.”

The FCS community is excited to watch Aidan’s journey unfold, and we wish him the absolute best as he begins his career in the Sunshine State. Thank you, Aidan, for representing the best of FCS!

🚨 ATTENTION DRIVERS🚨
There is a new school bus safety law 🚌 Drivers traveling in BOTH directions on ALL roads must come to a complete stop when a school or church bus has its stop arm extended and red lights flashing.

The only exception is if you are traveling in the opposite direction on a road with four or more lanes that is physically separated by an elevated barrier or an unpaved median.
