Franklin County Schools is excited to launch our new feature series, #OneTeamFCS Student Success Stories. This series will celebrate the achievements of our alumni. Our first highlight shines a spotlight on 2024 Western Hills High School graduate Joshua Scott.

Joshua is currently attending the United States Air Force Academy, where he has officially reached the halfway mark of his journey. The Academy is a four-year program that combines military training, academics, competitive athletics, and character development. In addition to his classes and training, Joshua also serves as a manager for the USAFA Football Team. Joshua will graduate from the Academy in 2028, earning a Bachelor of Science in Management and his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force.

“The educators and mentors at FCS gave me the opportunities and the confidence to attend and succeed at the United States Air Force Academy,” said Joshua Scott. “I’m at the halfway point, and my junior and senior years will let me step into more leadership roles before commissioning as a second lieutenant. I’m grateful for my roots.”

“To see Joshua step into this new role as an Air Force Academy Cadet is inspiring and a proud moment for our district,” said Superintendent Mark Kopp. “He is proof that the foundation built in Franklin County can take our students anywhere they aspire to go.”

Joshua attended Collins Lane Elementary School and Bondurant Middle School before he made his mark at WHHS. During his time as a Wolverine, he served as a student board member for the district, was elected Class President, and was named a 2023 Governor’s Scholar. He was also a four-sport athlete, competing on the football, swim, track, and basketball teams.

The FCS community is excited to watch Joshua’s journey unfold, and we wish him the absolute best as he aims for the skies. Thank you, Joshua, for representing the best of FCS!

Franklin County Schools’ Gracie Webb Named New Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education

We are proud to announce that Bondurant Middle School teacher Gracie Webb has been named the 2026 New Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education (KACTE).

KACTE is a professional association for career and technical educators in Kentucky. Each year, KACTE holds an awards ceremony to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the field and promoted and expanded career and technical education (CTE) programs. Individuals are nominated and the awards committee selects the winners.

Mrs. Webb teaches agriculture to sixth- through eighth-grade students at Bondurant Middle School and is the school’s FFA Advisor. She has been an educator for four years, serving students at Bondurant Middle School throughout that time. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and Master’s degree from Murray State University.

“I say all the time that I have the best job in the world! Thanks to the supporters in my corner I have been able to find a career that I really love. My high school agriculture teachers, family and Bondurant family have helped foster my teaching ability over the last 4 years, their faith in me has made a big difference,” said Gracie Webb, Bondurant Agriculture Teacher. “Most importantly, I am so lucky to work with the best students who make teaching fun everyday. I’m so honored to receive this award. I look forward to the rest of my career teaching agriculture!”

Bondurant Middle School Principal Enoch Welch commended Mrs. Webb for building an agriculture and FFA program that inspires students to develop their skills, explore career opportunities, and achieve at the highest levels.

“Gracie Webb is an outstanding educator who exemplifies the very best of Bondurant Middle School and Franklin County Schools. Her passion for teaching, dedication to her students, and commitment to agricultural education are evident in everything she does,” said Enoch Welch, Bondurant Middle School Principal. “She and her husband, Josh, dedicate so much of their free time to the agriculture program, and their investment has benefited so many students at BMS and beyond. We are incredibly proud of Gracie for receiving this well-deserved recognition and grateful for the positive impact she has on our students and school community every day.”

Mrs. Webb is one of 12 educators across the Commonwealth being honored this year. She will be formally recognized during the opening session of the CTE Statewide Summer Program in Louisville beginning July 20.

We have been made aware that some families did not receive a photograph of their graduate from the photography company contracted by our high schools. We understand how important these milestone photos are, and we are sorry for this issue. We want to make this right for our graduates and their families.
If your child did not get their graduation photo taken, we would love to invite them to the Central Office for a special makeup photo. Your graduate can dress in their cap and gown, bring their diploma, and have a formal photo taken with the Superintendent. To schedule a time, please email alexus.larson@franklin.kyschools.us.

We are excited to share that Future Forward Education & Career Center and William Cofield High School principal Adam Nance has been named the 2026 Russell W. Behanan Outstanding School Administrator of the Year by the Kentucky Educational Collaborative for State Agency Children (KECSAC). The honor is part of the annual State Agency Children School Administrator’s Association (SACSAA) Awards. Mr. Nance is one of two winners statewide to receive the award.

KECSAC is a statewide collaborative dedicated to ensuring that all children in the state receive a quality education. “State Agency Children” (SAC) are children in the custody or supervision of the Commonwealth and are being served in programs funded and operated by the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department for Community Based Services, or the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities in Kentucky.

"Mr. Nance exemplifies the compassion, dedication, and commitment to student success that define outstanding educational leadership. He has dedicated himself to creating a supportive environment where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to succeed despite the challenges they may face,” said Sherri Clusky, KECSAC Associate Director. “We are honored to recognize Mr. Nance with the Russell W. Behanan Outstanding KECSAC Administrator Award for his unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of state agency children and helping them build brighter futures.”

Mr. Nance has been an educator for 21 years, all with Franklin County Schools, and has served as principal at Future Forward and William Cofield High School for the last six years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Georgetown College, his Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from the University of Louisville, and his Education Specialist, Supervisor of Instruction degree from the University of the Cumberlands.

“This recognition is not a reflection of one individual, but of the incredible students, educators, and staff I have the privilege of serving each day,” said Adam Nance, Future Forward and William Cofield High School Principal. “Over the years, I've had some wonderful leaders I've been able to work with who have led by example. Education is a team effort. I am fortunate to work alongside a dedicated group of individuals who consistently put students first and help all our students to #GOFORWARD! I share this honor with my colleagues, mentors, and family, whose encouragement and support made this journey possible.”
