May 28, 2025 FRANKFORT, KY – Franklin County Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Nick Sheridan as the new Head Principal of The Academy. Sheridan brings over 17 years of experience in public education, with a proven track record of student-centered leadership, school safety coordination, and collaborative school improvement.
“We are very excited to hire a truly student-centered leader in Nick Sheridan as the new principal of The Academy,” said Superintendent Mark Kopp. “Nick has a fantastic vision for the school and is dedicated to meeting the district promise that Every Student Succeeds.”

“I am honored and truly blessed to be able to join The Academy as their new Head
Principal,” said Sheridan. “I am so excited to start working and collaborating with the students, staff, and parents of The Academy. I am thrilled to bring my experience and dedication to this job to lead the Bulldogs on their paths of success. Together we can do anything we put our minds to. I am committed to forming the strong relationships and foundational skills needed to help every student at The Academy succeed.”
Sheridan holds a Principal Certification from the University of the Cumberlands and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Louisville, maintaining a 4.0 GPA in both programs. His appointment is effective July 1st, and he will begin transitioning into the role over the

Our Technology Department has been diligently working on this project alongside Tim Sizemore and Arthur Becker from KDE, as well as Korey, Lane, and Constantine from our valued partner, STEP CG. Their dedication is ensuring a seamless transition to enhanced communication across the district.

It’s a true honor to celebrate one of our own for a job well done! 💙🚓👮
Hearn’s School Resource Officer, John Dudinskie, was recognized during last week’s board meeting for his outstanding service and dedication. Officer Dudinskie joined Hearn Elementary earlier this year and has quickly become an irreplaceable part of the Hornet family.
In recent events, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, stepping up in the face of unimaginable challenges. His presence leaves a lasting impact on our students, and we are deeply grateful for his commitment, compassion, and skill.
As a token of appreciation, Officer Dudinskie received a #OneTeamFCS hockey puck and a $50 gift card, generously provided by Robinson Oil Company.
We are incredibly lucky to have Officer Dudinskie on our team. Thank you for all you do!
