Franklin County Schools '❤️ Our People
For the eighth time in the past nine years, and the second year in a row, FCS employees will be receiving a 4% pay increase. Our Superintendent and Board members have worked tirelessly to elevate Franklin County Schools from 90th to 26th in the state for teacher pay. This 4% pay increase for all employees is in addition to the approximate 1% step increase, supplementing the 4% raise from 2024 and the 2% raises provided in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, & 2023.
A special thank you to our board for their unwavering support and dedication.

Mr. Neal from CTC sent us this stunning photo of a rainbow arching gracefully over WHHS. It's a simple reminder of the beauty we can find everyday in our town.
We are grateful to Mr. Neal for capturing and sharing this moment with us.

Last night, our community gathered to honor and remember the lives of Rylan and Bently Fields. The space was open for quiet reflection, offering a moment for us all to grieve this tremendous loss together. We ask that you continue to keep the Fields family—and our Cougars, Braves, and Wolverines—in your thoughts during this difficult time. Rylan and Bently left a lasting impact in our hallways and on the hearts of so many. Their memory will continue to live on in the lives they touched.

Dear Franklin County Families,
We want to make you aware of a concerning social media trend that encourages students to intentionally damage their school-issued Chromebooks by attempting to short out the charging ports. In some cases across the country this trend has led to injury and even caused electrical and fire damage to homes.
Please take a moment to speak with your child about the serious dangers of participating in these types of online trends. Their safety—and the safety of our students, staff, and families—is our number one priority.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our school community safe.

Stella Pepe: A Global Leader Making Waves at Western Hills 🌟♒🐺📍
Western Hills High School is home to many talented students, but Stella Pepe stands out as a shining example of leadership, dedication, and excellence. Originally from Italy, Stella joined Western Hills as a foreign exchange student through the EF Exchange Year program, bringing her passion for learning and community engagement to the heart of Kentucky.
In March, Stella showcased her expertise and confidence by securing 1st place in the Capital City Aquaculture Public Speaking Event—a remarkable achievement that highlights her ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and conviction. Her success in this competition is a testament to her hard work, adaptability, and commitment to making an impact in her new environment.
Beyond her academic and extracurricular achievements, Stella has also demonstrated her deep appreciation for the educators who have supported her journey. During Teacher Appreciation Week, she nominated JR Zinner, a dedicated teacher at Western Hills, for recognition. Thanks to her heartfelt nomination, Mr. Zinner was showcased on the EF Exchange website, further emphasizing the meaningful connections exchange students build with their mentors and communities.
Stella’s journey is a powerful reminder of the value of cultural exchange and the incredible contributions international students bring to their host schools. Her leadership, academic excellence, and appreciation for those around her make her an inspiration to students and educators alike.
As she prepares to graduate, Stella leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, gratitude, and global citizenship—qualities that will undoubtedly propel her toward even greater success in the future.
Congratulations, Stella! FCS is proud to have you as part of our community. 🎉

🦅🌟Staff Spotlight: Celebrating Ms. Bessie Hunt🌟🦅
Franklin County High School is fortunate to have an educator who goes above and beyond not only in the classroom but in shaping the school’s culture of success. Ms. Bessie Hunt, a dedicated Science teacher, recently took the initiative to organize the entire Success Celebration to kick off KSA testing—an event designed to uplift, encourage, and motivate students as they prepare for this important milestone.
Ms. Hunt’s leadership and enthusiasm were the driving force behind a celebration that brought students, staff, and the school community together. Her ability to foster excitement and school spirit is just one of the many reasons she’s such a valuable part of Franklin County Schools.
Her efforts remind us that success isn’t just about the tests we take—it’s about the attitude and support we build around them. Thank you, Ms. Hunt, for your passion, commitment, and for making Franklin County High School a place where students feel inspired to achieve their best!
