🎓 What an incredible year for our foreign exchange students! We are so proud of the international students who joined our school district this year, stepped out of their comfort zones, and are now part of the FCS alumni community.

Thank you to the The Frankfort State Journal for highlighting one of these amazing journeys, featuring Western Hills graduate Alessandro Orsi. We also want to extend a huge thank you to all of our host families who opened their homes, including our very own board member, Natalie Lile!

Thank you to everyone who helps make Franklin County a welcoming home away from home for students from all over the world.

FCS Last Day of School

Franklin County is named a “District on the Rise” for significant improvements in math!

The latest National Education Scorecard has been released, and out of school districts across the entire country, Franklin County has been recognized for showing exceptional improvements in math following the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Franklin County was only one of nine districts in the state to receive this recognition. These findings come from the Education Scorecard, an annual report compiled by researchers from Harvard, Stanford, and Dartmouth. The study analyzed student test scores across 37 states to identify where academic growth is happening. Overall, Kentucky ranked 8th best for gains in math.

We are so proud of our students, educators, and families who made this recognition possible. Let’s keep this momentum going, FCS!

FCS has been notified of a traffic change that will impact the William Cofield High School graduation ceremony at Kentucky State University’s Bradford Hall. The Douglas Avenue entrance to Bradford Hall is blocked, meaning guests must enter using the University Drive main entrance. Please be prepared to stop at the security gate upon entry and allow extra time for travel. We look forward to celebrating our graduates this Friday at 4:00 p.m.!

WCHS Graduation Traffic Update

As we prepare to celebrate the achievements of the FCHS and WHHS graduates this Saturday, we are closely monitoring the weather forecast. Our priority is the safety of our students, staff, and guests, and we want to ensure everyone is prepared for any adjustments we may need to make due to potential rain and storms. Please review our schedule and contingency plans below so we can make this day as smooth as possible for our graduates.

Graduation Schedule (Current Plan):
Franklin County High School (FCHS): 10:00 AM on the FCHS Football Field
Western Hills High School (WHHS): 6:00 PM on the WHHS Football Field

Weather Contingency Plans:
Plan A (Light Rain): We will proceed outside on the football fields as scheduled. If the forecast calls for light rain, please dress accordingly and bring a poncho or raincoat.
Plan B (Delayed Start): If a storm is passing through, we will delay the start time and utilize the schools as holding areas for guests and graduates.
- FCHS will be delayed no later than 1:00 PM
- WHHS will be delayed no later than 8:00 PM
Plan C (Move Indoors): If the severe weather does not pass and we cannot remain outside, the ceremonies will be moved to the respective school gymnasiums. Due to a smaller space, we would ask that families limit attendance to five guests per graduate so we can accommodate everyone. While we want to reassure you that we will not turn any guests away, please be prepared that the gym may be crowded, and some individuals may have to stand.

Our band and choir students are an essential part of graduation. If we are outside and there is no rain, the band and choir will perform live. If we move inside, we can’t fit the band, choir, graduates, and families all in one gymnasium. We’ve asked our music students to pre-record audio and video of their performances that can be used during the ceremonies if necessary.

If any changes to the time or location become necessary, we will notify you immediately using our school notification system. Thank you all for your flexibility, understanding, and cooperation as we work to give our seniors the celebration they deserve.
