This month, FCS is excited to shine a spotlight on 2026 William Cofield High School and Franklin County Career and Technical Center graduate Brian Hensley.
Brian is a recent graduate from WCHS, earning his diploma early to pursue a career as an electrician. Today, he is a full-time electrical apprentice at Arts Electric (AE) in Frankfort, KY, where he helps provide services to industrial, commercial, automation, technology, and excavating clients in the region.
Brian transferred to Franklin County Schools for his high school years due to the opportunities that were available. As a freshman, he started at CTC in the electrical program and continued through his junior year. While he attended CTC, he had the opportunity to take the Kentucky TRACK Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Assessment.
When Brian passed the TRACK assessment, he earned an apprenticeship opportunity at AE. However, because AE required full-time participation, he needed a flexible academic pathway to enter the workforce. Cofield provided the opportunity that he needed, allowing him to accelerate his coursework and graduate so he could step into his new career.
By passing the TRACK, Brian got a major head start by only needing to complete three more years with AE before he is eligible to test for his journeyman electrical license.
“The teachers never give up on you and push you to be your best,” said Brian Hensley. “Everyone should go to Franklin County because they have a lot of opportunities that you won’t want to miss out on.”
“Brian’s path to a high school diploma is one of the many reasons William Cofield High School is essential to our district. Brian set a goal towards the end of his junior year and had a plan after high school,” said Adam Nance, William Cofield High School Principal. “Our Career & Technical Center is one of the best in the state. Mr. Sanders and his staff do an incredible job exposing our students to high-demand skilled trades and connecting them with community partners, which, for Brian, led to full-time employment. Brian’s story is the ultimate example of our district working together as a system of schools. He is a great young man with an incredible work ethic! AE Solutions is fortunate to have him as part of their team.”
The FCS community is excited to watch Brian’s journey unfold, and we wish him the best as he begins his career. Thank you, Brian, for representing the best of FCS!
