The 2026 Kentucky Department of Education state assessment results reflect a team victory for Franklin County Schools, highlighting that our staff is preparing every student, at every level, for success.
Our district graduation rate earned a blue rating, the highest rank awarded by the state. FCS outperformed state averages in four-year and five-year graduation rates, post-secondary readiness, including outperforming the state average as much as 17% for African American students, SAT benchmark scores, and ACT reading scores. At the school level, Franklin County High School achieved a blue rating and Western Hills High School earned a green rating in post-secondary readiness.
These accomplishments represent the growth and consistency of high-quality instruction from “One Team FCS.” Across all elementary and middle school tested categories, which include reading/math, science/social studies/writing, English language progress, and school climate, FCS earned green ratings district-wide. Exceptional school-level highlights include:
Hearn Elementary and Westridge Elementary earned overall green ratings.
Bridgeport Elementary, Collins Lane Elementary, Hearn Elementary, and Bondurant Middle School earned blue and green ratings across the board.
Bondurant Middle School and Westridge Elementary earned blue school climate ratings.
The district earned green ratings for elementary and middle school English language progress, with Hearn Elementary earning an individual blue rating.
“What excites us the most about the state test results isn’t the final numbers, but the momentum behind it. Year after year, our students are making strides in their learning, and it proves that our staff is invested in our kids from their first step into school to the final milestone at graduation,” said Superintendent Mark Kopp. “Our promise and our focus is that every student succeeds, and we are making that happen.”
“Our students, teachers, and staff work tirelessly every day to fulfill the promise to our families and community that ‘Every Student Succeeds,’ and these scores are showing that we are doing that. From our growth in reading and math over the past 4 years, the stellar postsecondary readiness achievement, and our high graduation rate, we are eager to keep providing the elite educational experience to our community,” said Kim Young, District Assessment Specialist. “We are focused on continuing to provide all students with the tools and experiences they need to be successful. Franklin County should be proud to send their students into our school buildings every morning.”
