BPE Food Drive Graphic Announcement

Franklin County Schools (FCS) is proud to announce that Bridgeport Elementary School is stepping up to help nourish the local community. Starting September 21, students will launch a two-week food drive to support the Emergency Community Food Pantry of Franklin County, bringing a creative, collaborative twist to fighting hunger.

While donations often peak during the holiday season, food pantries frequently face a shortage during this time of year. Bridgeport is tackling the challenge and turning the charitable effort into a spirited, school-wide competition.

Bridgeport divides its student body into four distinct “dens”. Each den has been challenged with collecting non-perishable food items, and the den that collects the most food will earn the honor of having their den flag flown on the school’s flagpole outside.

In addition to the excitement of the competition, school leaders are taking the opportunity to teach their students about teamwork, collaboration, and civic responsibility.

“We welcome the participation by students at Bridgeport Elementary so they can learn how important it is to help struggling families in their community,” said Gil Lawson, Board President for the Emergency Community Food Pantry of Franklin County. “Food drives like this one help us feed families that are facing a crisis.”

The food drive will take place from September 21-October 2. All of the food collected will serve families in Franklin County.
