Region 4 Conference

Franklin County Schools (FCS) is celebrating a historic, award-winning year for the Franklin County High School (FCHS) DECA chapter. Kentucky DECA, an organization with 2,800 members, is a student organization that helps students develop skills and experience in marketing and business. This year, FCHS brought home a third-place statewide award for the largest percentage increase in chapter growth in Kentucky, which translated into a dominant presence at competitive events, with the high school sending 51 attendees to the Regional Career Development Conference and 39 attendees to the State Career Development Conference.

On the national level, FCHS DECA earned “Achievement Level” status for its membership campaign. Individual excellence was recognized for 11th grade student Nishka Patel, who was named a “DECA Diamond in the Rough”, and advisor Shannon Brunette received the “Advisor's Scholarship.” The entire chapter earned the “Chapter Travel Scholarship” to support students in their competitive journeys.

“We are beyond proud of our students,” said Shannon Brunette, FCHS Business Teacher and DECA Advisor. “They have been the driving force behind our chapter’s success this year and have consistently represented our school and community with excellence. The future is very bright!”

The chapter’s transformation into one of the fastest-growing programs in the state caught the attention of DECA leadership, who praised the program for its efforts.

“Franklin County DECA’s success this year is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment of our students and advisors. Through their hard work, enthusiasm, and belief in the value of DECA, they experienced significant membership growth and achieved the Achievement Level in DECA's Membership Campaign,” said Lisa Oakes, Chartered Association Advisor for Kentucky DECA. “This accomplishment demonstrates the strength of their chapter and their commitment to providing meaningful leadership, career development, and competitive opportunities for every member. I am so proud of what they have accomplished and look forward to seeing their continued growth and success!”
