Franklin County Schools (FCS) is pleased to announce that Franklin County has been named a “District on the Rise” in the national 2025 Education Scorecard report that was released on May 13, 2026. The annual report, compiled by researchers from Harvard and Stanford Universities and Dartmouth College, uses data from 37 states’ test scores to identify where academic growth is happening.
The report specifically highlighted academic gains from 2022 to 2025, a time when students were back in classrooms following the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the report, 108 districts across the country were highlighted for showing exceptional improvements in math and reading when compared to similar districts. Franklin County was one of only nine districts in the state to receive the recognition for math improvements.
Superintendent Kopp gave credit to the students and educators, stating, “I am proud of the students, teachers, and families who made this recognition possible.Our district has always had incredible potential, and we are going to keep building on this momentum.”
Overall, Kentucky ranked eighth in the nation for best gains in math and fifth best in reading.
