Our WHHS Archery Team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Kentucky NASP® State Bullseye Tournament, held March 13–14 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. Competing against 148 high schools from across the Commonwealth, the team shot a season‑high score of 3351, earning an impressive 8th‑place finish among some of the strongest archery programs in the state.
This year's event was the largest school‑based archery competition Kentucky has ever hosted. According to the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife, the 2026 NASP State Tournament welcomed 9,241 student archers from 415 participating schools, with more than 3,000 also competing in the 3D division.
A Growing and Competitive Field
Archery continues to be one of the fastest‑growing extracurricular programs in Kentucky. Each year, more than 160,000 Kentucky students learn archery during the school day, and approximately 17,000 compete on after‑school teams statewide.
For the WHHS Archery Team to secure a top‑10 finish among 148 high schools is not only a reflection of their skill and focus but also their ability to rise in a highly competitive statewide field.
A Program that Builds Skills Beyond the Range
The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) highlights archery as an activity that strengthens focus, self‑discipline, and confidence. Nationally, 1.2 million students across more than 9,500 schools participate in NASP each year.
Kentucky remains a flagship state for the program, integrating archery into the curriculum of more than 900 schools statewide.
Franklin County’s success demonstrates the impact of this program—showing what’s possible when students combine consistent practice, strong coaching, and a commitment to excellence.
Celebrating a Record‑Setting Performance
Shooting a score of 3351, the team achieved its highest mark of the 2025–26 season at the exact moment it mattered most. Their 8th‑place finish out of 148 high schools places Franklin County among the top archery programs in Kentucky—a noteworthy accomplishment considering the scale and talent showcased at this year’s state meet.
As the season closes, Franklin County Schools is proud of these student‑athletes and their coaches for representing the district with precision, dedication, and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to the entire WHHS Archery Team!
Your hard work, growth, and season‑best performance have made our district proud, and we look forward to seeing what you accomplish next.
