FRANKFORT, KY – October 28th, 2025 – The Franklin County High School (FCHS) Cross Country program is celebrating a major achievement as the team has officially qualified for the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships!
The team secured its spot by placing 4th in the highly competitive Region 4 Class 2A Meet held this past weekend on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Idlewild Park in Burlington, Kentucky. This fourth-place finish earned the team one of the final coveted team advances to the state-level competition.
Qualifying as a team takes incredible consistency and heart from every single runner. We are immensely proud of their effort and focus leading up to this meet, and we are excited for these youth to represent Franklin County on the state stage.
The FCHS Cross Country team will now shift its focus to preparing for the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Franklin County Schools District Athletic Director, Whitney Allison, stated, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our FCHS Cross Country runners and their dedicated coaching staff. Their success is a direct reflection of their discipline and commitment to excellence. We encourage the entire community to join us in supporting them as they compete for a state title!”

Additionally, Lauren Pelfrey earned an individual berth for the girls’ competition at the State Championship.
