October 15, 2025 | Franklin County Schools

Franklin County Schools proudly launched the first meeting of the 2025–26 Student Voice Committee today, bringing together a dynamic group of student leaders committed to shaping the future of their schools and community. Hosted by Cassandra Adams, Director of Federal Programs, the committee serves as a platform for students to share ideas, elevate concerns, and collaborate on meaningful initiatives.

This year’s committee is placing a special focus on homelessness—an issue that affects students across Kentucky and beyond. Matt Johnson, Family Resource Coordinator at Westridge Elementary, joined the meeting as a guest speaker to share insights and stories from the front lines. His message resonated deeply with students, sparking thoughtful dialogue and a renewed sense of purpose.
Additional guests included Whitney Allison, Director of Pupil Personnel; Kimberly Young, Director of Assessment; and Stella Pollard, Director of Technology. Each leader offered guidance and encouragement, reinforcing the district’s commitment to student-led innovation and inclusive problem-solving.

Superintendent Mark Kopp also addressed the students, praising their courageous attitudes and willingness to tackle complex issues head-on. “Your voices matter, and your bravery in speaking up is what makes Franklin County stronger,” he shared. “We’re proud of the leadership you’re showing not just for your schools, but for your entire community.”

Students are already diving into several collaborative projects aimed at raising awareness, improving access to resources, and amplifying student perspectives. These initiatives reflect the creativity, compassion, and courage that define Franklin County’s youth.

The district looks forward to showcasing the committee’s work throughout the year and celebrating the impact of student leadership across Franklin County Schools.
