FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Franklin County Schools Launches Inaugural Key Communicators Meeting to Shape District’s Future

Frankfort, KY – September 26, 2025 — Today marked a significant milestone for Franklin County Schools as the district hosted its inaugural Key Communicators meeting at the Board of Education. This newly formed group, composed of diverse community leaders, stakeholders, and advocates, gathered to share insights, feedback, and ideas to help guide the district’s strategic direction.

This new group is just one of many ways we are fulfilling our district promise, “Every Student Succeeds.”

Superintendent Mark Kopp welcomed the group and introduced the district’s KEY WORD for the year: Courage. He emphasized that courage will be the driving force behind the district’s efforts to innovate, improve, and serve the community with excellence. Supporting this theme are six foundational “little c” words that will shape the district’s courageous actions:

  • Communication

  • Cleanliness

  • Customer Service

  • Climate

  • Culture

  • Care Plan

Our community leaders had the chance to interact with the presentation and provide input through Mentimeter. It was truly a remarkable experience to hear the input of our community stakeholders.

“These six pillars will help us live out our commitment to courageous leadership and service,” said Superintendent Kopp. “We are grateful to our Key Communicators for being part of this journey and for bringing the voice of the community into our decision-making process.”
In addition to discussing the district’s vision and values, the group explored a wide variety of important topics, including:

  • Updates on the District Care Plan

  • Facilities improvements, including progress at Elkhorn Elementary and the development of new auxiliary gyms

  • The current state of the district budget
