Yesterday, Western Hills High School hosted a special event in the library for students who participated in the Kentucky Bluegrass Award (KBA) program. During advisory, students who read at least one of the ten nominated books for grades 9-12 gathered for the KBA Party.
The event was a delightful mix of socializing, snacking, and voting for their favorite book among the nominees.
Library Media Specialist Rhonda Bell, who sponsors both the KBA event and the school's Book Club, expressed her gratitude to the teachers who supported the initiative. "I want to thank all the teachers who brought their classes to the library for my KBA nominee book talks and book trailers," Bell said. Her efforts have fostered a love for reading and critical thinking among the students.
From the district's perspective, the event highlights the importance of encouraging literacy and community engagement. The Western Hills Wolverines continue to demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence and fostering a vibrant school culture.
The KBA Party not only celebrated the students' reading achievements but also reinforced the school's dedication to promoting literature and lifelong learning.
Congratulations, Wolverines and Mrs. Bell.
