Frankfort, KY - Franklin County Schools' bands have once again demonstrated their excellence by achieving distinguished ratings at the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) assessment. Both the concert band and the symphonic band received top honors, marking a significant achievement for the music program.
The concert band, in particular, has made remarkable progress by advancing to a higher grade level. This accomplishment is especially meaningful for band director Stephanie Wallace, who will be retiring at the end of the year. Wallace had set a goal to restore the bands to their pre-COVID performance levels before retiring, and the bands have not only met but exceeded this goal, earning distinguished ratings at grades 4 and 5.
"Proud of my bands…. Both distinguished again at KMEA assessment! I’m especially proud that we bumped up a grade level for concert band! One of my big goals before I retired was to have the bands back to where they were pre-COVID…. And we did it!!! Distinguished at grade 4 and 5!" said Wallace.
The Franklin County Schools community celebrates this achievement and looks forward to continued success for their music program.
