Franklin County High School | Class of 1998

Franklin County Schools is proud to celebrate the achievements of our alumni who continue to serve their communities and inspire future generations. This week, we’re excited to spotlight Katie Sewell Hood, a 1998 graduate of Franklin County High School.

🚨 A Career in Public Safety and Service

Katie began her journey in public safety in 2000 at the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services, where she played a key role in the agency’s transition to its current board structure. During that time, she earned her EMT certification and went on to work for Rural Metro.

In 2005, Katie joined the City of Frankfort Police Department as a 911 dispatcher. Over the years, she served as a training officer and even developed a training program for new hires—demonstrating her commitment to excellence and mentorship in emergency services.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Family and Community

Katie is married to Chris, a paramedic, and together they have two daughters: Alyson, a 2025 graduate of FCHS who will attend Georgetown College in the fall, and Kelsie, who will be entering 6th grade at Elkhorn Middle School.

Now a stay-at-home mom, Katie continues to give back by volunteering with her daughters’ activities and supporting local organizations—showing that service to others remains a central part of her life.

💙FCS Roots

Katie’s educational journey began at Old Peaks Mill, continued through Elkhorn Middle, and culminated at Franklin County High School. Her story is a testament to the strong foundation and community spirit fostered by FCS.

We are so proud to have Katie as an esteemed member of our Alumni!
