Franklin County School Community, The State Journal published a fantastic article today about our school calendar! We appreciate their efforts in keeping our community informed. There was a small typo in the article, so here’s a friendly reminder: 🔔 March 14th, 2025 is an FCS District Staff Day with no student attendance. 🔔 March 17th, 2025 our schools will be open and in session as a make-up day.

Please help us congratulate BMS 8th grader, Ayaan Shaik, for earning a spot at the upcoming state FPS competition. See the message below from BMS Academic Coach, Robbie Roberts: Ayaan Shaik (8th grade) recently competed in an FPS event called Scenario Performance. In this event, students get to choose one of the FPS topics from this season's list of topics, and then write and perform a 5 minute video. Ayaan chose the topic of Rising Sea Levels, and his video was titled "Meteorology Holocaster". We're proud to announce that we received word that Ayaan has placed in the top 2 students in the entire state of Kentucky, and his exact finish will be announced at the State Finals awards ceremony on March 17th at the Galt House in Louisville. The top 3 students in Scenario Performance from Kentucky will move on to the International FPS Competition which will be held this summer at Indiana University in Bloomington. Congratulations to Ayaan for an outstanding job! Other students who competed in Scenario Performance for Bondurant are: Meera Patel Nakshatra Vemula Arshia Shaik (Collins Lane 5th grader) I want to give a special shout out to coach Tammy Baker, who has done an amazing job growing our FPS program. FPS is an internationally recognized program, and Kentucky is recognized as the world leader in this prestigious competition. Please help us congratulate our Bondurant Braves for a very successful weekend at the Region 10 Governor's Cup Championships this past weekend. Here's the message Coach Robbie Roberts shared with us: Bondurant captured the overall Region 10 Gov's Cup Championship this past Saturday as the host school for the competition. Region 10 includes 20 different middle schools in Franklin, Anderson, Woodford, Boyle, Mercer, Garrard, Jessamine, and Washington counties. The overall regional championship was the 7th out of the last 8 years for the Braves. In quick recall, BMS opened the day with a 37-5 win over North Washington. In the second round, the Braves defeated Boyle Co. by a score of 36-16, setting up a semifinals match with league rivals Woodford County. After falling behind by 7 points in the second half, BMS chipped away and pulled out a 32-29 victory that came down to the last 2 minutes of a high level match. The championship match was a rematch with Woodford, and in another thriller Bondurant pulled out a 31-27 victory to advance to the Gov's Cup State Finals. Members of the regional champion BMS quick recall team are: Aishwarya Lingampeta Tanav Gudapati Charlie Ross Meera Patel Harlow Stapleton Ayaan Shaik Vishal Paluri Campbell Goins Lilly Zeurcher Saanvi Kasala Nathan Bayes Alaric Martin Amity Bennett In the other team event, the BMS Future Problem Solving team finished 3rd to earn points towards the overall championship. In one of the toughest FPS regions in the state, BMS barely missed moving on to state competition. We're very proud of the FPS team coached by Tammy Baker, who will have multiple students moving on to state in individual competition. She's also done an outstanding job of coaching the Jr. Division FPS team to a 12th place finish in the state already this season. The future of FPS is very bright (no pun intended)! Members of the BMS FPS team are: Ayaan Shaik Meera Patel Nakshatra Vemula Alaric Martin In individual testing, the following students finished in the top 6 in the region to move on to State Gov's Cup: Math 1st place---Tanav Gudapati (top 10 score in the state) 3rd place---Aishwarya Lingampeta 5th place---Vishal Paluri Science 1st place (tie)---Aishwarya Lingampeta & Tanav Gudapati (top 10 scores in the state) 3rd place---Meera Patel (top 10 score in the state) Social Studies 2nd place--Campbell Goins Language Arts 3rd place---Vishal Paluri 4th place---Charlie Ross 5th place---Lilly Zeurcher Arts & Humanities 1st place---Charlie Ross 4th place---Harlow Stapleton Written Composition 2nd place---Harlow Stapleton 5th place---Saanvi Kasala When all point totals were tallied, Bondurant took home the overall Region 10 Championship with 54 total points, with Woodford Co. coming in 2nd with 34 points. I want to commend all of the students on the team for doing an outstanding job, with many battling illnesses over the course of the last week. Regional competition is a long, mentally draining day, but the Braves showed toughness and resolve to take home their 7th Regional Championship trophy in the last 8 years. I also want to take a moment to thank all of our volunteer officials throughout the day. One of my proudest moments as a coach is when I see all of the love and support from parents, teachers, and former BMS players who give their time and efforts to continue the tradition of excellence that is the Bondurant academic team. Those volunteers include: Susan Riddell---contest manager, who ran the competition all week and spent countless hours making the event run smoothly Tammy Baker---hosting multiple hours of Google Meets for FPS and composition graders Mark Overstreet---Chief Official John Bennett---Head Scorer Adam Johnson---moderator for quick recall matches Malleshwar Suresh, Ethan Applegate, Aziz Smaoui, Nathan Carpenter, Nico Harmon---quick recall buzzer operators and spotters Ethan & Lukas Benassi, Ritvika Kalavagunta---concession stand Carli Ingram---written composition grader Stella Pollard, Mitchell Letulle, Erin Ford & the entire FCS IT department---setting up guest wifi for all of the students to test over the week and answering my numerous tech questions to help make the competition run so smoothly Scott Rushing & Jordan Semones---volunteering time to come and help me work with the kids in math and social studies to prep for Gov's Cup and Mathcounts ...and last but certainly not least, a huge thank you to all of the parents who made the hospitality room and concession stand run so smoothly, made delicious food for the coaches and officials, volunteered as proctors, donated time and money and supplies, and for being willing to do anything I asked to make the competition possible for all of these amazing students. If I try to list everyone I will surely leave people out, so please know that I truly appreciate every single one of you for everything you do for the BMS academic team! Thank you, Coach Roberts, and congratulations Braves!
