Group Insurance

Franklin County Schools offers comprehensive group health insurance to support the well-being of our employees. Benefits begin on the 1st day of the second month of employment, ensuring you have coverage shortly after joining our team.

    Section 125 Cafeteria Plan (Offered through American Fidelity)

    All pre-tax deductions adhere to Section 125 guidelines, ensuring tax-efficient savings for our employees. It’s mandatory for every employee to review all Section 125 deductions annually. Open Enrollment is held mid-August, with the first deduction occurring on September 20th for coverage beginning on October 1st.

    Franklin County Schools offers several employee-paid payroll deductions, including:

  • Non-matching Annuities (401-K, 403-b, 457, and Roth IRAs) through selected vendors
  • Cancer, Disability & Accident Insurance

  • Additional Life Insurance
  • Kentucky Deferred Compensation

    403(b) Investment Plan (Offered through American Fidelity)

    Employees have the option to enroll in 403(b) plans through selected vendors. Please note that enrollment in these plans is voluntary and at the employee's expense, with no matching or funding by Franklin County Schools.

    Life Insurance

    The State of Kentucky provides all full-time employees with $20,000 in complimentary life insurance coverage, ensuring peace of mind for you and your loved ones. Enrollment is required to activate this benefit. In addition to the basic coverage, you have the option to purchase additional life insurance for yourself or your dependents to meet your specific needs.

  • The “Your Group Plan” booklet, provided upon hiring, offers detailed information about the state life insurance and additional coverage options available.

    Retirement

    Franklin County Schools ensures that all employees have access to secure retirement options tailored to their roles. Certified employees are required to participate in the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), contributing 12.855% of their salary. Classified employees are enrolled in the Kentucky Retirement Systems (CERS), with contribution rates ranging from 5.0% to 6.0%, depending on their initial participation date.

    These contributions provide a reliable foundation for your retirement, helping you plan for a financially secure future.
