All pre-tax deductions adhere to Section 125 guidelines, ensuring tax-efficient savings for our employees. It’s mandatory for every employee to review all Section 125 deductions annually. Open Enrollment is held mid-August, with the first deduction occurring on September 20th for coverage beginning on October 1st.

Employees have the option to enroll in 403(b) plans through selected vendors. Please note that enrollment in these plans is voluntary and at the employee's expense, with no matching or funding by Franklin County Schools.

Certified employees are required to participate in the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), contributing 12.855% of their salary. Classified employees are enrolled in the Kentucky Retirement Systems (CERS), with contribution rates ranging from 5.0% to 6.0%, depending on their initial participation date.
