Peaks Mill Elementary Principal Selected

Cassie House named principal of Peaks Mill Elementary School

Frankfort, Ky, April 25, 2019 –Franklin County Schools Supt. Mark Kopp announced today that Cassie House will be the new principal of Peaks Mill Elementary School. House will replace Dana Blankenship, who is retiring on June 30 after six years as principal of Peaks Mill.

"We are very excited to welcome Cassie House as the new principal at Peaks Mill Elementary School.  Her energetic leadership, belief in fostering a culture of high expectations, and her knowledge of the students, staff, and parents of Peak Mill Elementary will serve her well as principal.  We are confident Cassie has what it takes to lead Peaks Mill to even greater heights" said Kopp.

House, a resident of Frankfort, has spent her entire 8-year career as an educator working for Franklin County Schools. She began her career in July of 2011 as an Elementary teacher at Collins Lane Elementary School. She has been the Elementary Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Coach at Peaks Mill Elementary since July 2017.

“Over the past two years I have had the opportunity to serve alongside the amazing Peaks Mill staff. I have seen firsthand the hard work and dedication they have for our students and I am thrilled to continue our journey together. Being a Franklin County girl this is a dream job to have the opportunity to serve the families in our community” said House. “I have had incredible role models to learn from throughout my education career in Franklin County; educators who have inspired me with their passion and commitment to growing learners. Mrs. Blankenship has been an open book for me to learn from and I have tried to soak up as much as I can before she retires. I will forever be grateful for her coaching and support. I am excited to continue the work that is happening and to carve out new ways for us to continue growing as a team.”

Dana Blankenship, the outgoing principal, joined Peaks Mill in 2013. She is retiring after 33 years in education, including stints in Menifee County Schools and most recently with Franklin County Schools.

Blankenship said of House’s appointment, “When I announced my retirement to the staff, I asked them to find a new principal who will continue the work we have been doing. Someone who recognized the needs of our PME students and community and will hold high expectations. And someone who loves these students as much as I do. Cassie House is the perfect choice to lead Peaks Mill Elementary. She embodies all of those qualities and will work hard for the students and staff success.”
