KYOTE Information

The KYOTE is a computer-adaptive college placement test that lets educators evaluate incoming students' skill levels in Reading, and Mathematics. Colleges in Kentucky use these results to place students in appropriate courses. Taking the KYOTE is recommended for all students that have not met ACT benchmarks by their senior year.

Benchmarks on the ACT

English - 18

Math - 19

Reading - 20

Students will have two opportunities to take the KYOTE during their senior year. The first opportunity will be before the end of the fall semester. The second attempt will be in the spring. Your math and English teachers will give you more information. On the next page are resources to help students prepare for these assessments.

Weekly Flyer Happenings!

College and Career Day (September 10, 2019) By Dawson Barrineau

The Seniors started a special tradition today! Our Senior Flyers were given the opportunity to explore education and careers after high school. All 12th grade students were given four activities to choose from that allowed them to see different and diverse paths they can pursue to prepare for their future. Students were offered a college visit day so students can meet representatives of a school they're interested in and connect to the campus at a personal level. Another option offered to students was job shadowing. Students had the chance to be with a professional in their field of interest for a day and discover the daily life of their desired career. The third option for students was the chance to take a school trip to BCTC Leestown Campus and receive an in depth look at the life of a BCTC student. These students learned pricing for college as well as many opportunities that BCTC has available to students. The final option that many students appreciated was the opportunity to take the CERT. Many Seniors retaking the ACT before college application due dates took advantage of the school's free prep tests that allow students to increase their scores significantly. With the high success rate of this personal growth day, the school is proud to label it a good idea!
