BPE Spelling Bee - January 20th at 1:00pm
Each homeroom in grades 1-5 will conduct their own spelling bee using the list specified for their grade level. The lists of words that students can study were sent home on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd or Wed. Jan 4th. The lists were marked to show which words are for the grade level bee in the classroom. The extra words on the lists are to study for the school wide bee.

A school-wide spelling bee will be conducted on January 20th at 1:00pm. Each homeroom will have one student represent their class. *Mrs. West will have a 1st grade winner because Scripps does not include kindergarten in their bee. (*in case of snow, there will be a make-up date of Jan. 27th). The winner of our school bee goes on to compete at the next level at the Regional Scripps Bee. This is scheduled for March 4th at 10 am in Kincaid Auditorium, Gatton College of Business & Economics, 550 Limestone, Lexington at UK.

Dear Parents,
It has been a great and busy start to the new year. As a school community, both teachers and students continue building connections to each other and the learning. These relationships and routines are the heart of our work of learning together. For this second semester we are really digging into the academics of reading, writing and math. As always, we are working to improve the academic learning of each and every student. We are working very strategically to improve our achievement and growth as a school community. We need your help as parents to help us meet these goals. Our greatest priority for you as parents is to support your child’s love of reading by reading with and to them at home every night. If you are in need of additional reading materials, be sure to contact your child’s teacher.
We will start today with Braggin’ Breakfast for out TTT (Totally Terrific Tiger winners) in the Great Hall w/ me @ 7:20 then we’ll all be in the gym @ 7:45 for our Student of the Month assembly, then @ 11 am the SOM winner will have lunch w/ me in the Great hall-congrats to all who will be involved! I am so proud of all of their hard work! Report cards came home this week-please contact any of your child’s teachers if we can help!

Attached is our 2016 School report card summary. Let the office know if you'd like a hard copy. Good info!
Stay warm and safe this long weekend and we’ll see you Tuesday for another great week!

Mulan Jr. Auditions Set for December 9th!

The date of auditions for Disney’s Mulan Jr is set! December 9th, beginning at 3:00. Sign up for a time outside the music room! Those just wanting to be a part of the ensemble do not need to audition.

To get a role, your student will need to audition for us so that we can get to know their voice, acting, and dancing ability better. Thanks to Musical Theater International, there is a website that has all of the audition material that your student will need. This website has descriptions of the character, their script selections, and their musical selections:

http://bit.ly/2f5dF4B. All they’ll need to do is go on the website, click the character they want to use to audition, and memorize all of the material under the character’s script and score section. Ms. Moore is very ! If you have any questions about anything, please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail Ms. Moore.
