BPE K-Kids Give Back!
A group of K-kids members volunteered at ACCESS Soup Kitchen in downtown Frankfort where they served members of the community less fortunate. Then they traveled to The Lantern at Morning Pointe to visit and craft with the residents there. It was a meaningful and enriching day and their sponsor Mrs. Lail could not be more proud of the work that they have achieved this year. Another group of K-Kid members will be traveling to ACCESS Soup Kitchen on Friday 5/19 to provide further assistance.
Bridgeport names new principal
The Bridgeport Elementary School Site-based Council has selected Stacy Rutledge as the school's next principal. Mrs. Rutledge currently serves as an administrative dean at Southside Elementary School in Woodford County. Her 18 years in education have been at Southside, during which time she has served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and her current position. Mrs. Rutledge will assume her new post this summer, and will be replacing long-time Bridgeport Principal Martha Lail, who is retiring.
Alina N. Wins a State History Victory
Alina N. advanced from regional National History Day competition to state competition on April 22, hosted by the University of Kentucky. The rest of the story? Ally made history earning first place honors in the individual exhibit category! Only two places, first and second, are awarded at History Day in competing categories.

Ally’s road to the top was paved by a yearlong research project that began by exploring the National History Day theme, Taking a Stand in History. Ally chose a strong Kentucky female for her stand in History: Willa Chappell, trainer of the Tuskegee Airmen. Ally received excellent marks for interview, thoroughness of topic, defense of thesis and overall knowledge of Willa Chappell and the social norms of Willa’s time. During her research, Ally discovered the character of Ms. Chappell to be an inspiration for all generations of Americans who want to make the country in which we live a better place. Not ironically, Ally was referred to by one of the judges as a “young American with the where-with-all to change America in positive and meaningful ways.” Those of us who know Ally, know this statement to be true.
