Bridgeport's K-Kids Club Visit the Life House!
Mrs. Lail and her club K-Kids collected supplies for the animals at the Life House. They then delivered the items to the animal shelter this week. They were given the opportunity to see the impact they made first hand and meet some of the animals that they had helped. We are proud of all of the Bridgeport students who helped by donating supplies and our K-Kids for leading this initiative.

We’ve started our Wendy’s Fundraiser-Our school has partnered w/ our local Wendy’s to do an easy fundraiser called “Wendy’s Bonus Bucks” which will run through June 30th. All you have to do is tell them our code-Our school has been assigned acct. # K1024, Please use the acct.# or say our school name when placing your order and BPS will get 15% of the purchase price donated to our school. Ask your child about their daily challenge for our “Great Kindness Challenge”. Each morning on the announcements we’ve been sharing a kindness quote/thought for the day as well as a challenge for all of us-just little things each day to make our world a more kind and caring place!
Thanks to those who were able to attend our SBDM meeting Monday where we worked hard to make important decisions about our staffing allocations and plans for the 2016-17 school year. Your voice and opinion do matter to us! Your sbdm parent members are Maria Brown and Kathryn McCrystal-I know they’d loved hearing from you on these important topics!

Kentucky African American Encyclopedia Authors/Editors Visit BPE
Bridgeport students had the opportunity to meet the authors and editors who collaborated on a new reference book titled The Kentucky African American Encyclopedia. Student council members lead by Mrs. Lail introduced Dr. John Hardin, Dr. Karen Cotton McDaniel, and Dr. Gerald L. Smith to the audience and helped to facilitate the event. Students learned about the process that they went through to create this resource and were able to ask them many questions about the writing process and historical significance of this text. A special thank you to Mr. Brown for helping to arrange this event for BPE students!
4th Grade Students Observe Light Energy Transferring to Heat Energy!

4th graders observed light energy transferring into heat energy. Using their Schema of energy transfer and the behavior of light, students predicted which color would allow ice cubes to melt fastest, then tested their hypothesis.
