Dear Collins Lane Families and Community Members,
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I am the principal of Collins Lane Elementary School. I completed my undergrad in Elementary Education at the University of Kentucky. GO CATS! I earned my masters in Elementary Education and Gifted and Talented Endorsement from Georgetown College. I received my Rank I in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. My school experience consists of 17 years in the elementary school setting. I began my career as a 4th grade teacher at Linlee Elementary in Fayette County. When Linlee shut down due to overcrowding and the construction of Sandersville Elementary was complete, I transferred to Sandersville and became the K-5 science lab teacher. In 2009, I began my administrative journey and successfully served P-5 as the PSA of Arlington Elementary in Fayette County. I have served as the principal of Collins Lane for the past 4 years.
I am elated to continue another successful school year and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure the success of every student. As a team, it is my desire to continue the tradition of excellence established at Collins Lane by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. We will continue the focus on nurturing and developing educational needs, 21st Century skills, fostering a safe environment for 500+ children, use of data to inform instruction, consistent implementation of instructional strategies to increase student achievement, and providing exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.
During the course of the year, it is my hope that we work together to provide the students of Collins Lane the best possible opportunities. We will work to prepare them to be world-class citizens ready to master the challenges of the 21st Century with a solid foundation created at school.
As Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. I am privileged to lead such an outstanding school community and, I look forward to what I know will be both a rewarding and successful year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, or input at any time.
P.S. On a personal note, I am originally from Versailles and spent most of my time growing up between there and Lexington. I currently reside in Frankfort. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Wesley. Together, we have two children Kolton and Aubrey, who are 14 and 10. As those of you have children can relate, my children are the light of my life.
Proud to Be A Collins Lane Cougar!
Mrs. Jennifer Perkins
