College Fairs

ACT Prep in Frankfort

Prepare for the March and/or April ACT tests at 237 W Broadway St in Frankfort.  The 4-week course first session begins Sunday, February 9th 2-4 p.m. and ends Sunday, March 1st. The fee is $399.  The 8-week course begins on the same date but goes through Sunday, March 29th.  The fee is $599.  Space is limited. KAGC Scholarship

The Kentucky Association of Government Communicators has created a scholarship program to recognize Kentucky high school seniors for their hard work and commitment to both school and community.  A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who intends to study communications or journalism at any post-secondary institution.  Application information and documents required can be found at

Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship (WRKS) helps Kentuckians who have not yet earned an associate's degree afford an industry-recognized certificate or diploma. The WRKS program is available to college students and certain high school students who are enrolled in college coursework.

TheDream.US Scholarship

TheDream.US is a college access program for immigrant youth who are came to the country before November 1, 2014.  The application deadline for the National Scholarship Award for up to $33,000 for high school or first-time college students and community college graduates is February 27, 2020. Kentucky Farm Bureau Scholarship

Seniors with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA or a minimum 23 ACT score and who have a parent as a Kentucky Farm Bureau member can apply for the 90 county and state college scholarships which will be awarded by May 21st.  Applications must be postmarked by February 28, 2020, and can be gotten from the Guidance Office or http://kyfb.com/scholarships.  

Murray State University's Commonwealth Honors Academy

The 2020 Academy will be held June 6-27, 2020.  Rising high school seniors are brought together for an exciting, challenging academic enrichment program.  Students will received 6 hours of universtiy studies credit; have the opportunity to take an additional 6 hours of tuition-free university courses at MSU during their senior year; and be award a 4-year $2,000 renewable housing scholarship to attend MSU.  Applications are availalbe at  http://www.murraystate.edu/cha and the application deadline is March 1, 2020 

Democratic Women's Club Scholarship

The DWC of Franklin County is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior in Franklin County.  Application of the winner of this scholarship will be submitted for the DWC of KY Scholarship (also $1,000).  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Applications must be turned in to the Guidance Office no later than March 3, 2020. 

WeWannaPlay, Inc. JT Riddle Scholarship Program

This program is open to graduating high school students from Franklin County. One male and one female will be selected to receive the JT RIDDLE STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP and two males and two females will be selected to receive the WEWANNAPLAY RECOGNITION SCHOLARSHIP. Qualifications are: Franklin County high school graduate; 2.5 GPA or higher; student athlete on roster; positive; role model; leader; enrolled in undergrad program or vocational school; and US citizen. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline to apply is March 4, 2020.

The Kentucky Association of Government Communicators Scholarship

This organization has created a scholarship program to recognize KY high school seniors for their hard work and commitment to both school and community. A non-renewable $500 scholarsihp will be awarded to one public high school senior who intends to study communications or journalism at any postsecondary institution.  Deadline for application is Friday, March 13, 2020.  Additional information and the application are available at http://www.kagc.net/scholarship/

Community Foundations of Louisville Scholarships

The CFL offers scholarship opportunities for students to pursue.  More than $1.6 million in scholarships were awarded last year.  The General Scholarship Application features 60-plus scholarships. Eligibility requirements vary, but the application's technology matches students to all scholarships they are eligible to receive.  https://cflouisville.org/scholarships/  The application will close Monday, March 16, 2020, at 5 p.m. EST.

Sleep Scholarships

You may qualify for one or more of the scholarships featured in this guide in you're interested in studying or pursuing a degree in sleep science, feel passionately about your dreams, or are dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle. VFW Patriotic Art Award

The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary are sponsoring the Youth American Creative Patriotic Art Awards program. Open to students grades 9-12.  More information about the program and the contest application can be found in the guidance office.  Deadline to enter the contest is March 31, 2020. 

Kentucky Federation of Republican Women

The KFRW will seek to grant a $1,500 scholarship in 2020 to a college-bound high school senior girl who has been politically active within the Republican Party during her high school career. The qualified applicant will graduate from a Kentucky high school in 2020, is a registered Republican, and plans to enroll at an accredited college or university in Kentucky.  Applications can be found in the Guidance Office and the deadline to apply is April 1, 2020.

The Sidney & Eunice Turner Scholarship

Seniors interested in pursuing a degree from an accredited college with a major emphasis in agribusiness or agriculture with a 3.0 GPA or higher can apply for this scholarship.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office or you can email for an application turnerscholarshipcommittee@gmail.com.    Deadline to apply is April 3, 2020 by 3 pm.

KMHI Accepting Applications for 5 $1,000 Scholarships

Graduating high school seniors that currently reside in a modular, manufactured or mobile home in Kentucky and have the desire to further their education at a university, college, technical or vocational school can apply for a $1,000 scholarship from the Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  All entries must be postmarked by April 6, 2020

Blue Grass Community Action Scholarship

 A $750 scholarship will be awarded to provide financial assistance to students based on need, academic record, and the merits of their applications.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office and are due by April 10, 2020.    

Family Medical Centers Scholarship

This community scholarship is a $1,000 opportunity open to graduating seniors planning to attend a post-secondary school and major in a health-related field of study.  It is sponsored by Family Care of the Bluegrass & Womens Care of the Bluegrass on behalf of CFMC INC.  Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned to your counselor by April 13, 2020.

We the Students ESSAY CONTEST

This competition gives high school students a chance to share their perspective on what role the governnment should play in monitoring internet content and $20,000+ in scholarship and prizes will be awarded to the winning essayists.  Please sign up and submit your 500-800 word essay to https://www.billofrightsinstitute.org/engage/students-programs-events/scholarship/Deadline to apply is April 15, 2020.

Frankfort Branch NAACP Scholarship

The NAACP Scholarships were created to assist students to meet the cost of a college education. The award amount will be no less than $500.  Applicants must: reside in Franklin County; be a spring 2018 graduating senior; have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Deadline to apply is Friday, April 17, 2020.

Meridian Sun Lodge No 26 Awards

The MSL College Assistance Award and the Derwood Thomas Memorial College Assistance Award applications are available in the guidance office.  Applicants must be 2020 Franklin County resident; not an immediate family member of a lodge member; must be a 2020 graduating high school senior; have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Completed application must be mailed by April 24, 2020.

Whitaker Bank - Paul Gray Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is open to graduates of Franklin County who intend to enroll in an accredited college, and work towards a degree in business, agriculture, or a related field, ie. Marketing, Accounting, Chemistry, etc.  The total scholarship is $2,500.  GPA must be met annually to maintain the scholarship.  Application forms are available in the guidance office and the deadline to apply is May 20, 2020. 

PB & J Scholarship

This $500-$1,000 scholarship is focused on helping students whose test scores or GPAs might not be the best, but have the drive to succeed. The founder, Traven Watase was rejected a lot due to her test scores and GPA. To give back to future students, she lived off of PB&J sandwiches during her first year in college to fund a scholarship for a student like her.  To apply use the link http://bit/ly/pjscholars2020.  Deadline to apply is May 31, 2020.

Imagine America Foundation

Conservation of Natural Resources Scholarship

Graduating high school Ag seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher can apply for this scholarship. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in college at the time of the scholarship presentation. Applications, letters of recommendation, transcript, and essay should be returned to the Franklin County Conservation District, 103 Lakeview Court, Frankfort, KY 40601 no later than June 1, 2020.  Applications are available in the Guidanc Office.

Big Sun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  Requirements: high school senior and currently involved in some sport.  Award: $500.00  Please visit http://www.bigsunathletics.com to apply.

AES Scholarship

Visit  http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm to apply for the AES Scholarship which is for motivated students to help in the furthering of their education.  This scholarship $500 is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.   Deadline is October 5, 2020.

KSU Scholarships

Seniors interested in attending Kentucky State University next year should stop by the Guidance Office for a complete list of their Academic Scholarship Program. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and are renewable for subsequent semesters when criteria are met.  November 15 is the priority deadline for admission and scholarships.
